Rangers Turn Down £13 Million Fenerbahce Bid for Young Striker Chermiti

Glasgow Rangers have rejected a significant £13 million transfer proposal from Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce for 21-year-old striker Youssef Chermiti. Despite strong interest from the Istanbul club, the Scottish Premiership side has made it clear they're not prepared to part ways with the promising forward at this time.

At the same time, Rangers are actively searching for offensive additions to bolster their attacking options. Their attempt to sign Ryan Naderi has encountered obstacles, as German third-division club Hansa Rostock has turned down a £2.6 million proposal for the 22-year-old striker. The German outfit is holding out for a higher transfer fee and won't finalize any departure until they secure a suitable replacement.

There's optimism surrounding the potential deal, however. Rangers have the financial flexibility to improve their offer if necessary. Naderi is reportedly eager to make the switch to Ibrox, and Rostock manager Daniel Brinkmann has indicated the club won't stand in the player's way. Rangers are also monitoring alternative striking targets, ensuring they have backup options available.

Transfer Activity Heating Up at Ibrox

In addition to the Chermiti situation, Rangers declined a loan proposal from AS Monaco for winger Djeidi Gassama that included an obligation-to-buy clause exceeding £10 million. An intriguing detail: Sheffield Wednesday would receive a portion of any profit Rangers generate from selling Gassama, considering they acquired him for just £2.2 million only six months earlier.

The transfer speculation extends to the defensive side as well. German Bundesliga contenders Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly monitoring Rangers centre-back Emmanuel Fernandez. The 24-year-old defender has impressed after overcoming initial struggles following his summer transfer from Peterborough United.

Ex-Rangers manager Philippe Clement is interested in bringing Rabbi Matondo to Norwich City on a loan arrangement. Additionally, three different clubs are in negotiations for midfielder Joe Rothwell, with Rangers favouring a permanent transfer for the 31-year-old.

Celtic Join the Hunt for Striking Reinforcements

Across the city at Celtic Park, the reigning champions are pursuing Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh. The Norwegian side will make a decision regarding the 25-year-old's future following their UEFA Champions League fixture against Atletico Madrid. Celtic aren't alone in their pursuit, facing competition from several European clubs including Norwich City, with a price tag approaching £7 million being quoted.

Celtic are also monitoring RB Leipzig midfielder Xaver Schlager, though Italian giants Juventus currently hold the advantage in negotiations. The Austrian international's situation remains fluid despite Leipzig's sporting director suggesting positive discussions about a contract extension.

At Easter Road, Hibernian rejected a £4.3 million bid from Italian Serie A club Hellas Verona for striker Kieron Bowie. While reports indicate Verona has shifted focus to alternative options, Hibs anticipate receiving improved offers. Should Bowie depart during this window, the transfer fee could surpass the club's record £4.4 million sale of Scott Brown in 2007. The 23-year-old Scotland international has garnered attention from multiple Italian teams, strengthening Hibernian's bargaining position.

Aberdeen are nearing completion of a deal for Kaiserslautern midfielder Afeez Aremu, valued at approximately £250,000. The 26-year-old Nigerian has fallen out of favour at his German club and could add valuable depth to Aberdeen's midfield options. With potential roster movements at Pittodrie, the squad could undergo significant changes before the transfer deadline on February 3rd.
