Maccabi Tel Aviv has brought in seasoned Norwegian tactician Ronny Deila in hopes of salvaging their campaign. The 50-year-old coach has inked a contract through the conclusion of the current season, stepping in for Zarko Lazetic, who was dismissed following last week's derby loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Deila arrives with substantial credentials across multiple continents. His resume includes league titles in Norway, Scotland, and the United States. His most prominent achievement came during his Celtic tenure from 2014 to 2016, where he secured two Scottish Premiership crowns and a League Cup trophy. He also guided New York City FC to their inaugural MLS Cup championship in 2021.

The Norwegian manager has coached in five nations, with recent stints at Belgian powerhouses Club Brugge and Standard Liege. Prior to accepting the Israeli position, he was at the helm of Atlanta United FC in Major League Soccer.

During his introductory media appearance, Deila wasted no time laying out his objectives. "There are 48 points still up for grabs and that represents significant opportunity," he declared with conviction. The incoming manager intends to adjust the team's tactical approach. He's advocating for more vertical play and swift transitions, coupled with improved defensive organization.
