Whitecaps Secure Sorensen Through 2028: Danish Coach Commits After Historic Season

The Vancouver Whitecaps are maintaining their winning formula. Following their most successful campaign in franchise history, the club has secured head coach Jesper Sorensen's services through the 2027-28 season with a fresh two-year contract extension.

For the 52-year-old Danish tactician, committing to Vancouver's long-term vision was straightforward. "From both perspectives, I believe it's clear that the partnership has worked exceptionally well," Sorensen stated. "Extending my commitment to the Whitecaps was an effortless decision."

The choice makes perfect sense. During his inaugural MLS season, Sorensen delivered remarkable results. Vancouver posted an 18-7-9 record, secured second place in the Western Conference standings, and demolished numerous club benchmarks. The team accumulated 63 points, registered 18 victories, and found the back of the net 66 times.

Between March and May, the Whitecaps went undefeated for an impressive 15 consecutive matches. They advanced to the CONCACAF Champions Cup final and captured their fourth consecutive Canadian Championship title. Four squad members earned MLS All-Star selections, while Sorensen received recognition as a coach of the year nominee.

Sorensen joined the organization from Denmark's Brondby IF with limited MLS experience.
